I bought the book on Kashmir written by Younghuband and that is the book I wanted. The only confusion that was created by advertising two books by the same author on Kashmir with same year of publishing with two different prices. There was just one photo of the cover of the book given for both these books in the advertisement. But the book I got had a totally different cover than advertised. It does not look like the original binding and is an abandoned copy from some library in Spokane. I had expected a book with the cover shown on the photo in the advertisement and I got some thing else.I haven't sent it back because I just don't want any arguments. That is all I have to say. If I will be buying any more stuff from , I will have to think about it seriously first.
A good read combining elements of Raj Era from a British officer's perspective (who went on playing a bigger role later on in Tibet which is another story altogether), the beautiful vale of Kashmir, appreciation of wild life (though there are tales about hunting excursions); cultural intricacies of the region etc.
Extremely happy to have this book written by an intrepid adventurer.
Sir Francis takes you, flower by flower through the valley of Kashmir,, back when it was pristine. The lovely paintings don't apear in the version, so I bought the paperback version as well. It was worth it.
